my why

There are so many reasons why a connection with nature is a huge part of my life. I’ve always felt the pull of the mountains, oceans, and forests - but the thing I love most about the outdoors is the invitation to step squarely out of your comfort zone.

The problems of everyday life fade away when you immerse yourself in an environment that tests your problem solving, awareness, and physical capacity. There’s a kind of peace of mind at the centre of embarking on an adventure into the unknown - you’re content with the experience of simply trying to overcome. You’re living in each moment, fully.

Despite the importance society places on the wins and the highlight reel worthy moments, I’d argue that the biggest thing a life lived outdoors can teach is not “success,” but how to build resilience. Even on adventures that I’d classify as some of my favourite days outside, so many things have gone wrong - and I’ve had to be flexible, adaptable, and release my expectations.

Many talk about the feelings of insignificance, or realizations of how small we actually are, after spending time in the vastness of nature. Maybe that’s a good thing. After all, nature is not just a hobby you’re into. You are a part of nature.

So this is my why…

Drawn from weekend escapes, dawn patrol days, & stargazing nights. Inspired by a lack of cell service, summit coffee stops, and the places nature takes you when you surrender to a perpetual sense of wonder. It's a return to the present moment, and a call to become as wild and free as your surrounding landscape.

until next time 🌲✨
